In the UK this year there was a warm spell of weather in April which encouraged bud burst in quite a number of oak trees. In May we had some couple of consecutive nights of frost, which resulted in shrivelling the leaves of affected oak trees (see photographs).
While the trees were trying to recover, the frost event was followed 10-14 days later by a heat wave (27-35 C) for more than 5 days. These conditions and consequences will add stress to oak trees.
Do any of the physiologists or anyone else have a view or similar experiences to share?
